Tabgrid user guide

A practical guide to getting work done in your product catalog.

Use this sequence as a starting point. The labels and actions you see depend on your role, enabled modules, and workspace configuration.

Open the Tabgrid app

Step 01

Set up a structure that fits your products

Start with the product categories your team uses to browse and organize its assortment. Define the attributes that describe each product and group related fields so they are easier to work with.

When product types need different data, assign the relevant attribute definitions to attribute families. This gives product editors a consistent schema without forcing every item into an identical set of fields.

  • Choose stable external product identifiers before importing.
  • Use clear names and types for attribute definitions.
  • Review category and family ownership in the correct client workspace.

Step 02

Preview a source file and map its fields

Open the product import workflow and select a supported file. Review the previewed columns, choose or create a mapping, and check that a source column maps to the product identifier your workspace expects.

Save a mapping profile if the same source format will be used again. Resolve unmapped fields and validation notices before starting the import. Track batch progress, created or updated records, and failures in the job or import status view.

  • Keep a copy of the source file and note the import time.
  • Check a small sample of mapped fields before processing a full catalog.
  • If the import fails, review the job details and mapping before retrying.

Step 03

Enrich records and review assisted changes

Search the catalog, open a product, and update the fields your team maintains: titles, descriptions, attributes, images, categories, or language-specific content. For work across several records, use the supported bulk actions.

AI-assisted bulk editing provides a change preview. Review affected products, sample before-and-after values, warnings, and the selected language before confirming. The edit is queued for background processing; wait for its job status rather than assuming it finished immediately.

  • Use precise prompts with the selected products and language in mind.
  • Inspect the generated preview before confirming changes.
  • AI actions depend on workspace configuration and may not be enabled for every account.
Review localization and AI availability

Step 04

Find missing information and review readiness

Use the product completeness details to find which configured criteria are fulfilled and which data is missing. A displayed estimate is marked as estimated; open the detail view for criterion-level context and configuration messages.

Publication readiness is a separate check. Review the current status and blocking reasons instead of treating a completeness percentage as a guarantee that a product will be published. Readiness depends on the data and rules configured for that product.

  • Resolve missing fields that matter for the relevant family and destination.
  • Check whether a completeness result is estimated or calculated from saved data.
  • Confirm readiness again after saving changes.

Step 05

Follow background work and configured integrations

Imports, bulk edits, and other long-running operations may be processed as jobs. Use the workspace job and integration status screens to review progress and investigate failures; do not assume that a queued task has already finished.

For external feeds, confirm which integrations and destinations are configured for your workspace, then review the listing or feed history available in the product. Platform support and publication behavior depend on the installed connector and its configuration.

  • Keep an eye on failed and pending jobs after large imports.
  • Use the job details to distinguish a request that is queued from one that is complete.
  • Contact your workspace administrator if an integration or module is unavailable.

Glossary of terms used in this guide

A quick reference for the vocabulary you'll see across the app and documentation.

Attribute
A single reusable product field, such as color, material, or wattage, with a defined data type and validation rules.
Attribute family
A named set of attributes assigned to a product type, so different kinds of products only capture the fields relevant to them.
Category
A node in the hierarchy used to browse and organize the assortment, separate from the attribute values that describe a product.
Completeness
A calculated or estimated result showing how much of the configured, expected product data has been filled in.
Mapping profile
A saved set of rules that connects source file or feed columns to Tabgrid product fields, reusable across future imports.
Publication readiness
A status describing whether a product currently satisfies the rules required before it can be published to a channel.
